Wizkid surprised fans in the early hours of Friday morning with the unexpected release of “S2,” a five-track EP that showcases the Nigerian superstar’s versatility across multiple genres. The project arrives without prior announcement, following the artist’s recent social media blackout that had fans speculating about new music.
The EP features no guest appearances, allowing Wizkid’s vocals to take center stage across production that ranges from classic Afrobeats to Amapiano, reggae fusion, and R&B. Tracks like “Kese (Dance)” lean into South African-influenced sounds, while “Bad Girl” returns to the smooth, melodic style that defined his “Made in Lagos” era.
“I wanted to have fun with this one,” Wizkid posted on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the release. “No pressure, no expectations. Just vibes for my people.”
Production credits include longtime collaborators P2J and Kel-P, alongside contributions from South African producer Kabza De Small and Ghana’s Guiltybeatz. The EP’s sonic diversity reflects Wizkid’s ongoing evolution as an artist willing to experiment while maintaining his core Afrobeats foundation.
Lead track “Diamonds” has already begun climbing streaming charts, with its infectious hook and danceable rhythm making it an early fan favorite. The song’s production features shimmering synths and a pulsating bassline that nods to Wizkid’s ability to create instant hits.
“S2” serves as a appetizer ahead of Wizkid’s long-awaited album “More Love, Less Ego 2,” which the artist has promised will arrive before summer.
