Emmanuel ”Mo” founded Afrobeat San Diego on April 1, 2023 based on his dream of elevating experiences and celebrating culture through dance and rhythm. Growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, he was inspired by Fela Aníkúlápó Kuti. Mo vividly remembers listening to Fela on stage at the Shrine uplifting the audience with charisma and sociopolitical messages.
Cierra “CC” supports Afrobeat San Diego with her creative eye, innovative marketing, and forward thinking promotion. As a native San Diegian, she connects the local and global Afrobeat communities.
Our team curates experiences, not just events. We ensure a shared sense of kinship. From the music selection, DJ, venue, entertainment, and audience, the future of African music is always our focus.
