Mr Jabba Announces New Single “True Love”, Sets the Tone for Forthcoming Collaborative EP “Heartbreak Hotel”

Mr Jabba and Legend Harry Channel Heartbreak Into Groove on New Single “True Love”

Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Mr Jabba is gearing up to drop “True Love,” a soulful exploration of romance gone sideways that somehow still makes you want to move. Arriving August 21st, the track teams him up with frequent collaborator Legend Harry for a laid-back Afropop duet that captures what happens when giving your all still isn’t quite enough.

Sung in English and Nigerian Pidgin, “True Love” tells parallel stories of emotional exhaustion—one man pouring everything into a relationship only to fall short, another walking away from love weighed down by unrealistic demands. The centerpiece hook, “She said she wants some true love, and I gave her true love,” anchors the track’s bittersweet meditation on modern relationships. What sets this single apart is its refusal to wallow; instead, it transforms vulnerability into an infectious, groove-heavy anthem that lingers well beyond the final note. The song serves as the opening salvo for Heartbreak Hotel, a collaborative EP from Mr Jabba and Legend Harry slated for October 2nd that promises to dive deeper into themes of love, loss, healing, and growth through contemporary Afro-fusion sounds. A visualiser premiering September 11th will complement the release, built around the concept of “Echoes of Presence”—emphasizing raw emotion over visual spectacle.

Born Abdul Jabbar Momoh and raised in Benin City, Edo State, Mr Jabba brings royal lineage and eclectic influences to his music. His sound draws from Afrobeat pioneers like Fela Kuti and Eedris Abdulkareem alongside global icons ranging from 2Pac and Bob Marley to Michael Jackson and Westlife. Speaking on the project, the artist shared: “Heartbreak Hotel is one of the most honest projects I’ve ever made because every song is rooted in real experiences. True Love became the perfect introduction to the EP because it captures that universal feeling of giving your all to someone and still questioning whether love alone is enough.” With this release, Mr Jabba and Legend Harry deliver more than just another Afropop collaboration—they’re starting an authentic conversation about love’s complexities, its disappointments, and the resilience that emerges from heartbreak.
