Big Wiz is coming home. In what’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting announcements of the year, Afrobeats megastar Wizkid has been confirmed as the first headliner for Detty December Fest 2026, set to kick off on December 18 in Lagos. The Grammy-winning artist will launch the festival’s revamped format, which promises to deliver two weeks of non-stop music, culture, fashion, and entertainment running through December 30.
This year’s edition, once again produced by entertainment powerhouse Livespot360—the same team that orchestrated Cardi B’s groundbreaking Nigerian and Ghanaian shows—is introducing a game-changing dual-stage setup. While Wizkid commands the main Festival Stage on opening night, the newly introduced Pulse Stage will shine a spotlight on the next wave of African talent. According to Livespot co-founder and chief creative officer Darey Art Alade, this expansion reflects the explosive global growth of African music and creates vital opportunities for emerging artists to perform alongside established icons. The move signals a commitment to nurturing the continent’s music ecosystem while celebrating its current superstars.
Wizkid’s homecoming performance arrives after a relatively quiet year for the superstar, who spent much of 2025 touring behind his 2024 album Morayo—a project that climbed to No. 4 on Billboard’s World Albums chart. Earlier this year, he dropped the collaborative Real, Vol. 1 EP with Asake, before pivoting to cross-genre features including “Dynamite” with Tyla and “Gimme Dat” with Ayra Starr. The latter track earned him a nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards, proving his influence shows no signs of slowing down.
With tickets already on sale and additional headliners expected to be revealed soon, Detty December Fest 2026 is positioning itself as the can’t-miss event of the season. Mark your calendars—Lagos is about to get very, very detty.
