Wizkid Set to Ignite Detty December Fest 2026 as Opening Night Headliner
The king is coming home. Wizkid has officially been locked in as the opening night headliner for Detty December Fest 2026, marking a triumphant return to Lagos for one of Afrobeats’ most iconic exports. The Grammy-winning superstar will take the stage on December 18, kicking off a two-week cultural extravaganza that promises to blend music, fashion, food, and entertainment through December 30.
This year’s festival, once again orchestrated by powerhouse entertainment company Livespot360, is rolling out some major upgrades. Most notably, organizers are introducing a second stage to the festivities. While Wizkid commands the main Festival Stage on opening night, the newly minted Pulse Stage will serve as a launchpad for the next generation of African music talent. According to Livespot co-founder and chief creative officer Darey Art Alade, this expansion isn’t just about scale—it’s about legacy. The dual-stage format creates space for emerging artists to share the spotlight with established heavyweights, reflecting the explosive global growth of African music while nurturing its future.
The timing couldn’t be more fitting for Wiz. After spending much of 2025 touring behind his 2024 album Morayo, which climbed to No. 4 on Billboard’s World Albums chart, the star has kept busy with strategic collaborations. His joint project with Asake, Real, Vol. 1, dropped in January, followed by standout features including “Dynamite” with Tyla and the Grammy-nominated “Gimme Dat” with Ayra Starr—the latter earning a nod for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Now, as December approaches, all eyes turn to Lagos for what promises to be an unforgettable homecoming performance. Tickets are already available through official festival channels, with additional headliners set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
