Wizkid Makes History With Back-to-Back Afrobeats Rumble Championships

Wizkid has cemented his status as an Afrobeats titan in yet another way, becoming the first and only artist to capture NotJustOk’s prestigious Afrobeats Rumble title twice. The Nigerian megastar successfully defended his crown in 2025, adding to his inaugural championship win from the previous year.

The Starboy’s journey to double glory began in 2024 when he navigated a grueling 64-artist knockout bracket packed with Africa’s elite musical talent. After dispatching Rema in a heated semifinal showdown, Wizkid faced off against fellow heavyweight Burna Boy in the championship round. The Ojuelegba singer dominated the fan vote with an impressive 72% to 28% margin, establishing himself as the competition’s first-ever champion and setting the stage for his historic run.

When the 2025 edition rolled around, the tournament introduced a fresh selection process, drawing its 64 contenders from NotJustOk’s Afrobeats Power Ranking based on cumulative points earned between January and July. Wizkid once again proved unstoppable, fighting his way through the single-elimination format to claim his second consecutive title. The bracket structure differed from 2024, placing Wizkid and Burna Boy on opposite sides of the draw, yet the outcome remained the same—Wizkid standing tall at tournament’s end.

With two championships from the competition’s only two editions, Wizkid now owns the record for most Afrobeats Rumble titles. It’s another fan-voted accolade to add to an already legendary career, and proof that when it comes to commanding the people’s choice, Starboy remains in a league of his own.
