Afrobeats royalty Davido is gearing up to deliver what might be his most introspective project yet. The Nigerian superstar has officially announced ORIADÉ, his sixth studio album, set to arrive on July 31, 2026. The timing couldn’t be more significant—this release marks exactly 15 years since Davido first burst onto the music scene, and serves as the proper follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed 5ive album.
The album’s title carries profound cultural weight. ORIADÉ fuses two powerful Yoruba words: “ori” meaning head or destiny, and “adé” translating to crown. It’s a deliberate meditation on purpose, perseverance, and the rewards that come from staying true to your calling. In his own words, Davido reflected on the leap of faith that started everything: “Over fifteen years ago, I made a decision to trust something I couldn’t fully explain… I just knew music was my destiny.” He continued, emphasizing that the album celebrates his evolution while acknowledging the privilege of championing African music globally. “I hope when people hear my new album, they understand that purpose doesn’t always follow the expected path. The biggest blessings often come from betting on yourself, even when the destination isn’t in sight yet.”
Fans got their first preview of the ORIADÉ era on June 26 with the release of lead single “I Know Who I Be.” While the complete tracklist and featured artists remain under wraps, Davido has teased that this body of work will showcase gratitude, self-reflection, and artistic maturity.
