Beninese legend Angélique Kidjo has just dropped the official music video for “Bando,” and it’s a vibrant celebration of street culture and global unity. The five-time Grammy winner enlisted Pharrell Williams and Quavo for this cross-continental collaboration, turning what started as a studio session into a full-blown visual statement about community and connection.
“Bando” originally appeared on Kidjo’s HOPE!! album earlier this year, with Pharrell serving as co-producer. The new video transforms the song’s themes of resilience and togetherness into living, breathing imagery. Shot on city streets and residential blocks, the visuals spotlight young people front and center—kids playing football, dancers moving across cobblestone steps, and everyday life pulsing through every frame. It’s raw, authentic, and unapologetically community-driven.
Fashion plays a major role in the video’s aesthetic. Kidjo commands attention in custom dark denim adorned with metallic hardware, safety pins, and floral brooches, styled with black sunglasses, layered gold chokers, and a structured headwrap. She switches into a burgundy leather suit with platform loafers for another scene, while Pharrell makes his appearance in signature style—bright yellow shades and a white tee as he drops his verses. The looks match the energy: bold, confident, and rooted in cultural expression.
The release comes on the heels of a historic moment for Kidjo, who recently became the first African musician to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
