Cheekychizzy Drops Deeply Personal Album ‘W.O.T.S’ After Two-Year Journey

Nigerian artist Cheekychizzy has released his introspective new project W.O.T.S (Word On The Streets), a body of work two years in the making that blurs the line between creator and creation. Moving between cities, navigating shifting relationships and evolving versions of himself, the artist discovered something profound during the album’s construction: while he was crafting the project, the project was simultaneously shaping him. That revelation became the backbone of everything W.O.T.S represents.

The album’s core philosophy centers on the idea that everyone has their own “street”—not necessarily a physical location, but any space or experience that leaves its mark. According to Cheekychizzy, Nigeria is a street. Los Angeles is a street. The music industry, fatherhood, relationships, money, failure, success—each represents its own terrain with lessons to impart. Throughout the campaign, he’s posed one central question to listeners: “What’s the word on your street?” For some, that word might be survival, family, or faith. For Cheekychizzy, the answer is simple: FIND OUT. As he puts it, true self-discovery can’t happen through theory alone—you have to live, take risks, make mistakes, and grow. One particularly striking line encapsulates the album’s journey: “The streets made a version of me. Now I’m finding out which parts of that version are actually me.”

The 10-track project features “God Design,” “Wah Wah,” “Odeshi,” “Too Much Going On,” “SHSH,” “Shina Peters,” “Nasty Lover” featuring Dej Loaf and Konshens, “Jack Pot,” “Kpakorokpa,” and “No Go Jones.” The standout collaboration “Nasty Lover” bridges continents and sounds, bringing together Nigerian, Detroit, and Jamaican musical influences into one cohesive vision.
