Afrobeats superstar Davido has once again sparked conversation on social media, this time weighing in on Nigeria’s ongoing debate about political wealth and accountability. The OBO crooner responded to a resurfaced video of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi discussing his personal fortune and business background, adding his voice to calls for greater transparency among Nigerian politicians.

The viral clip shows Obi detailing his pre-politics business success and showcasing exclusive credit cards that few Nigerians possess. He mentioned holding an American Express Platinum Card, which was introduced in 1987 to a select group of just 5,000 individuals worldwide. Obi went further, revealing he also had access to the ultra-exclusive Black Card—officially known as the Centurion Card—launched in 1999 for only 1,000 people globally. Despite acknowledging that his political career had taken a financial toll on his personal wealth, the former governor expressed no regrets about his decision to serve in public office.

Journalist Rufai Oseni reignited discussion around the video when he shared it on X (formerly Twitter), challenging Nigerian politicians to follow Obi’s example of transparency. “Can every Nigerian politician tell us how they made their money like this?” Oseni asked pointedly.
