The 18th edition of The Headies Awards has unveiled its star-studded lineup of nominees, and the competition is fiercer than ever. Set to take place in Canada on October 23, 2026, this year’s ceremony showcases the best of Nigerian and African music, with breakout artist FOLA and superstar Davido dominating the nominations with 10 and 8 nods respectively. The diverse slate of nominees reflects Afrobeats’ continued evolution, spanning from established heavyweights to exciting new voices reshaping the continent’s sound.
FOLA’s massive haul includes nominations across major categories like Next Rated, Best Male Artiste, Album of the Year for “Catharsis,” and Digital Artiste of the Year, signaling the rising star’s breakthrough moment. Davido trails close behind with eight nominations, including Song of the Year for “With You” featuring Omah Lay, while industry titans Wizkid, Omah Lay, and Burna Boy also secured multiple nominations across various categories. The awards continue to expand their continental reach with dedicated categories for East, West, North, and Central African artists, plus a new Best African Diaspora-Canadian Artiste category reflecting the ceremony’s Toronto location. Ghana’s King Promise, Tanzania’s Harmonize, and DR Congo’s Fally Ipupa represent the Pan-African excellence being celebrated.
