Hennessy Cypher 2026 Unites Continental Hip-Hop Excellence with Sarz at the Helm
The iconic Hennessy Cypher is back, and this year’s edition marks a groundbreaking moment in its 15-year legacy. For the first time ever, two Francophone African artists join the roster as six of the continent’s most dynamic hip-hop voices converge for an electrifying collaboration. With legendary Nigerian producer Sarz orchestrating the sonic landscape, the Hennessy Cypher 2026 delivers a powerful statement on African hip-hop’s global reach and cultural diversity.
Cameroon’s Tenor makes history as his nation’s first representative in the cypher, joining forces with Côte d’Ivoire’s sharp-tongued Suspect 95, South Africa’s award-winning Yanga Chief, Ghana’s celebrated Kwesi Arthur, Kenya’s versatile powerhouse Fena Gitu, and British-Nigerian lyricist Enny. This carefully curated lineup represents a cross-section of Africa’s hip-hop landscape—from the francophone markets of Central and West Africa to the anglophone scenes of East and Southern Africa, with a transatlantic connection through the UK diaspora. Under Sarz’s masterful production, the collaboration stays firmly rooted in hip-hop’s foundational elements while pushing the genre’s boundaries forward.
“The art of blending is at the heart of Hennessy,” explains Aimee Kellen, Moët Hennessy’s MEA Regional Marketing Director. “Just as distinct eaux-de-vie are brought together to create something exceptional, this year’s Cypher unites six remarkable voices from across Africa and the United Kingdom, each bringing their own perspective and energy.” The partnership between Hennessy and hip-hop runs deep—the cognac brand holds the distinction of being the most-mentioned spirit in music history, with over 58,000 song references. This cypher continues that decades-long relationship, providing a platform where diverse flows, linguistic traditions, and regional styles merge into something entirely new. Directed by Juan Visser and styled by Bee Diamondhead, the Hennessy Cypher 2026 represents more than just a collaboration—it’s a celebration of African hip-hop’s unstoppable evolution.
