The Wait Is Almost Over! Funke Akindele Unveils First Images From The Four, Coming to Cinemas December 11

Funke Akindele Drops First Look at “The Four” — Her Most Ambitious Film Yet

Nigeria’s box office queen Funke Akindele is back, and this time she’s bringing something different. The award-winning filmmaker has just unveiled the first images from The Four: No One Fights Alone, set to hit cinemas worldwide on December 11, 2026. After consistently breaking records with films like A Tribe Called Judah and Battle on Buka Street, Akindele is pushing Nollywood’s boundaries once again with this emotionally charged drama that weaves together fashion, music, and raw storytelling.

The Four tells the story of Esosa and three fierce women who leave everything behind to fight for someone they love. It’s a tale about loyalty tested to its limits, about courage when the odds are stacked against you. What makes this project stand out is how Akindele has built an entire cultural ecosystem around it — from incorporating traditional Adire textiles into the wardrobe to featuring an original soundtrack. The film stars a powerhouse ensemble including Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Timini Egbuson, and Lateef Adedimeji. On the music side, award-winning vocalist Waje and Afrobeat rising star Shoday join the cast, bringing their artistry to the big screen alongside entertainment personalities Samuel Banks, Kolapo Omotosho, and Ayomide Iwasokun.

Produced by Funke Akindele Network (FAAN TV) and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, The Four represents another milestone for a filmmaker whose work has generated over ₦5.2 billion at the Nigerian box office. Akindele has mastered the art of telling authentic African stories that resonate globally while staying rooted in Nigerian culture — from the language to the locations to the traditions woven throughout. With this latest project, she continues to expand what’s possible for African cinema on the world stage.

The Four opens globally in cinemas on December 11, 2026. Based on Akindele’s track record, expect this one to dominate the box office and spark conversations across the continent and beyond.
