Wizkid Set to Ignite Detty December Fest 2026 as Opening Night Headliner
Big Wiz is coming home. Wizkid has been locked in as the first major headliner for Detty December Fest 2026, marking a triumphant return to Lagos for one of Afrobeats’ biggest global ambassadors. The Grammy-winning superstar will take center stage on December 18, kicking off what promises to be an electrifying two-week celebration of African music and culture that runs through the end of the year.
This year’s festival, once again orchestrated by entertainment powerhouse Livespot360—the same team that brought Cardi B to Nigerian and Ghanaian stages—is rolling out some exciting changes. Most notably, organizers are introducing a dual-stage format. While Wizkid commands the main Festival Stage, the newly launched Pulse Stage will shine a spotlight on the next wave of African talent, giving emerging artists a platform alongside the continent’s established icons. Livespot co-founder and chief creative officer Darey Art Alade emphasized that this expansion reflects the explosive global growth of African music while creating crucial opportunities for rising stars to showcase their craft.
The timing couldn’t be more perfect for Wizkid’s homecoming. After a relatively quiet 2025—marked by his collaborative Real, Vol. 1 EP with Asake and strategic features with artists like Tyla on “Dynamite” and Ayra Starr on the Grammy-nominated “Gimme Dat”—Starboy is primed to remind fans why he remains at the apex of the Afrobeats movement. His 2024 album Morayo, which climbed to No. 4 on Billboard’s World Albums chart, served as the soundtrack for much of his 2025 touring cycle. Now, as Detty December approaches, tickets are already on sale, and the anticipation is building for what additional headliners will join this year’s stacked lineup.
