The global stage is about to get a serious dose of African excellence. Uganda’s electrifying Triplet Ghetto Kids have officially been tapped to join Shakira for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final halftime show, cementing what’s shaping up to be one of the most Afrocentric World Cup celebrations in history.
Shakira announced the collaboration in a video message to fans, revealing her vision to create something truly special by uniting diverse dance talents from across the globe. The Ugandan dance crew, known for their infectious energy and jaw-dropping choreography, will share the stage with the Colombian superstar as she performs “Dai Dai”—the tournament’s official anthem featuring Nigeria’s own Burna Boy. Founded by Dauda Kavuma in Kampala, the Ghetto Kids have been building their international reputation for over a decade, delivering show-stopping performances that blend street dance with pure joy. Their resume includes starring in French Montana’s “Unforgettable” music video, lighting up festivities at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and making it all the way to the finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
This announcement is just the latest confirmation that African talent will dominate the 2026 tournament. Rema and South Africa’s Tyla are already locked in to perform at the opening ceremony on June 12 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, while Burna Boy’s feature on the official anthem ensures Afrobeats will soundtrack the entire event. The final itself goes down July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium, where Shakira will co-headline alongside Madonna and BTS. Africa isn’t just participating in this World Cup—we’re running the show.
