Royalty in Kente: Bozoma Saint John & Keely Watson’s Star-Studded Ghanaian Wedding Features Tiwa Savage, Efya & More

When Bozoma Saint John and Keely Watson tied the knot in Accra, they didn’t just exchange vows—they delivered a masterclass in honoring African heritage with elegance and intention. Their traditional Akan wedding at the private residence of former Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo brought together nearly 1,000 guests, and the star power was undeniable. Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage, Ghana’s own Efya, KiDi, and Gyakie joined the celebration, alongside Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast members Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, and Kathy Hilton.

The ceremony was steeped in Akan customs that highlight the union of two families rather than just two individuals. Before festivities kicked off, the couple walked guests through the meaning behind each ritual. Bozoma admitted her favorite part of the tradition? Being celebrated as the ultimate prize. Meanwhile, Keely had to fulfill a lengthy dowry list presented by Bozoma’s family—think premium spirits, fine textiles, cash envelopes, and stunning jewelry. But he went even further. He flew to Mumbai to hand-select raw gemstones for a custom eternity band that mirrored the vibrant colors of Bozoma’s Kente cloth. The finished ring featured a red ruby for royalty and passion, an orange sapphire for joy and creativity, a yellow diamond for warmth, a blue sapphire for wisdom and loyalty, and a green emerald symbolizing love and abundance—all framed by white diamonds.

For the main ceremony, Bozoma was draped in hand-woven Kente from Goba Kente and Naana Adobea, styled over a white eyelet-embroidered underskirt. A structured Tikua headpiece replaced the traditional veil, while layered gold beaded necklaces, arm cuffs, stacked bangles, and a feathered jeweled fan completed her royal ensemble. Keely matched her energy in a toga-style Kente drape with geometric patterns, a gold crown headband, and statement rings. Tiwa Savage turned heads in a hot pink corseted gown with Kente hemline detailing by Ghanaian luxury brand Saadia Sanusi, proving that wedding guest fashion can be just as show-stopping as the bride’s.

For the evening reception, Bozoma switched into a custom halter-neck Kente gown by Mimmy Yeboah, featuring a corseted silhouette, high slit, and sweeping train. Her custom Christian Louboutin heels were crafted from the same Kente fabric as her dress. Keely complemented her in a bespoke brown cultural suit with a mandarin collar and Kente accents along the cuffs and pocket flaps.
