Davido Unveils ORIADÉ: A Crowned Destiny Arrives July 31

The Afrobeats heavyweight is back with purpose. Davido has just announced his highly anticipated sixth studio album, ORIADÉ, dropping July 31, 2026—a project that arrives at a milestone moment as he celebrates 15 years of reshaping the global soundscape of African music. Fresh off the commercial triumph of his 2025 release 5ive, the DMW boss is ready to deliver what he’s calling his most reflective work yet.

The album’s title carries deep cultural significance. Rooted in Yoruba language, ORIADÉ fuses “ori” (destiny or head) with “adé” (crown), creating a powerful statement about fulfilled purpose and success earned through perseverance. For Davido, it’s more than just a title—it’s a testament to betting on himself when the odds weren’t clear. “Over fifteen years ago, I made a decision to trust something I couldn’t fully explain… I just knew music was my destiny,” the artist shared in his announcement. He describes the album as a celebration of his journey and the privilege of championing African music worldwide, emphasizing that the biggest blessings come from self-belief even when the destination remains uncertain.

The rollout kicked off June 26 with lead single “I Know Who I Be,” offering fans their first glimpse into the sonic direction of ORIADÉ. The album follows 5ive, which secured another top-five World Albums chart position and boasted an impressive roster including Victoria Monét, YG Marley, Shenseea, Chris Brown, Becky G, and Omah Lay. Meanwhile, 2026 has already been monumental for Davido—from his Coachella debut featuring surprise guest Adekunle Gold, to his collaboration with Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado on “No Place Like Home” for the FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack, which he performed at the tournament’s countdown concert in Los Angeles.
