Yemi Alade & Bien Deliver a Cross-Continental Love Anthem with “Don’t Be Shy” | Watch the Official Video

Yemi Alade and Bien Unite for Sultry Pan-African Romance on “Don’t Be Shy”

Nigerian superstar Yemi Alade and Kenyan vocal powerhouse Bien have delivered something irresistible. Their new collaboration, “Don’t Be Shy,” is a sweltering Afro-R&B jam that celebrates the kind of magnetic energy some people just naturally possess. As the lead single from Yemi Alade’s upcoming album “It’s Yemi Alade,” the track seamlessly blends Nigerian Pidgin and Swahili over lush production courtesy of Nigerian producer De Yaso and Kenya’s Kobby Worldwide. With Kompa influences weaving through the Afro-R&B foundation, the song becomes a genuine cross-continental love letter that feels both intimate and expansive.

The official music video elevates the track’s romantic intentions with stunning visual storytelling. Director’s choices shine through three distinct environments: a vintage-inspired studio lounge anchored by leather furniture and wall-hung oriental rugs, a verdant tropical room draped in deep curtains and framed by indoor palms, and a seductive red neon corridor accented with golden pillars. Yemi Alade commands each space with effortless choreography that feels spontaneous rather than staged—exactly the vibe you’d expect from a song about being completely captivated by someone. Her styling game is equally mesmerizing, transitioning from an elegant off-the-shoulder black lace gown to a bold red sequined mini paired with a sheer asymmetrical chiffon cape, while her beauty looks feature dramatic winged liner, glossy red lips, and statement gold coil earrings. Bien matches the aesthetic with sharp tailoring, including a burnt-orange zip-up jacket and gold-buckled ochre trousers.

This isn’t the first time these two artists have found chemistry in the studio. They previously linked up on a Swahili version of Yemi Alade’s hit “Nagode” and a remix of Bien’s “All My Enemies Are Suffering.” Speaking on their latest collaboration, Alade praised Bien’s soulfulness, noting how naturally they created the track together. “I feel like in ‘Don’t Be Shy’ we are both being playful, confident and honest, in expressing feelings when you’re into someone,” she explained. Bien kept it simple: “We want you to just feel good and loosen up when this song comes on.” Mission accomplished—this one’s built for those moments when words aren’t enough and only movement will do.
