Chocolate City Hits Odumodublvck with ₦50 Million Lawsuit Over Alleged Backstage Assault

Nigerian hip-hop heavyweight Odumodublvck is facing mounting legal troubles as Chocolate City, one of Africa’s most prominent record labels, has filed a lawsuit against the rapper seeking ₦50 million in damages. The suit stems from an alleged violent altercation backstage at the 2025 Flytime Festival that reportedly left a Chocolate City employee injured and traumatized.

Court documents filed at the High Court of Lagos State detail a disturbing incident that allegedly unfolded on December 22, 2025, at the Eko Convention Centre. According to the lawsuit, Chocolate City’s Project Manager and Public Relations Officer was performing official duties backstage for one of the label’s performing artists when Odumodublvck—born Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu—entered the restricted area. The employee claims the rapper approached him asking about his employment with Chocolate City before allegedly striking him in the face without warning. The suit further alleges that Odumodublvck shoved the employee aggressively and issued verbal threats, including statements that he would “end” the victim, even after security intervened. The filing also accuses an associate of the rapper, identified as “Shagba,” of pouring alcohol on the employee during the confrontation.

The alleged assault reportedly caused significant physical and psychological harm. Medical records from Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) document facial and neck pain, swelling, persistent headaches, and body trauma that forced the employee to suspend work. The claimant states he incurred approximately ₦2 million in medical treatment, ₦1 million in additional healthcare expenses, and ₦1.5 million in related costs. Beyond medical bills, the suit claims the injuries prevented the employee from fulfilling professional commitments during the festive period, including an overseas engagement, resulting in lost income and career opportunities.

Chocolate City released a statement confirming the legal action and emphasizing their commitment to employee welfare and safety. “Our employee has received medical care and necessary support. We remain committed to allowing the courts to determine this matter,” the label stated. This lawsuit represents the second major legal challenge for Odumodublvck in recent weeks, following a separate suit filed by fellow Chocolate City artist BlaqBonez. As of press time, the rapper has not publicly addressed either lawsuit.
