There’s something magnetic about an artist who knows exactly who they are. Kayode Afolabi Ajayi—better known as Mistikay—has been quietly crafting his lane in Afrobeats, blending the church melodies and traditional rhythms of his Akure, Ondo State upbringing with contemporary R&B sensibilities. Born June 26, 1991, the independent artist has built his sound brick by brick, refusing to mold himself into anyone else’s blueprint. And now, with his breakthrough single “Bundle Bundle” and its star-studded remix featuring Zinoleesky, that patience is paying off in real time.
The original “Bundle Bundle” dropped in May 2026, but it was the July 24 remix that truly set the streets ablaze. What started as a studio accident—his producer playing an instrumental while working on something else—became the anthem Mistikay didn’t know he was searching for. “While recording another track in the studio, my producer played the instrumental for me and I instantly connected with it,” he explains. “I love having Trumpets and Brasses played in music and it’s what always connects me to it.” That brass-heavy foundation became the sonic signature of the record, a celebratory bounce that carries both nostalgia and ambition. For Mistikay, the song represents survival and evolution: “It’s that track that connects me to my early stages in life, my struggles and overcoming them to actually living the supposed life while eventually wanting more, seeing the brighter picture as the world keep evolving.”
What makes “Bundle Bundle” special is its dual citizenship—it lives comfortably in R&B spaces while remaining undeniably Afrobeat. “I was able to merge the R&B part into our Nigerian Afrobeat sound so that it can sit on Afrobeat playlists created for party jams, celebrations and beautiful moments,” Mistikay shares. The creative process was swift and instinctive: “Within 1 hour of listening and writing, there’s an amazing tune sitting pretty as anthem.” But even with that immediate magic, Mistikay knew the record needed elevation. Enter Zinoleesky. “I knew I needed a feature with an active creative then boom Zinoleesky was my best option,” he says. The chemistry was instant—Zino heard the track and immediately locked in, delivering a verse that’s already generating TikTok buzz from its opening lines alone. Directed by Media Kid and produced by Prodigy Beats, the remix has transformed “Bundle Bundle” from a promising single into a certified summer staple.
“Bundle Bundle (Remix)” serves as the lead track for Mistikay’s debut EP Hear Me Out (HMO), a 5-track project arriving at the end of August 2026. For an independent artist navigating Nigeria’s fiercely competitive music landscape, the EP represents more than just a collection of songs—it’s proof of concept. “This project reflects my spirit of non-relentless hustle and belief knowing we can achieve whatever we put our minds to having God as the pilot,” he says. Operating outside the major label machine has given Mistikay the freedom to remain authentic, to create a sound that doesn’t mirror anyone else’s blueprint.
