Princess Wonda Delivers Intimacy and Ambition on Seven-Track “Magic Hour” EP

After nearly half a decade away from releasing a full project, Afrofusion artist Princess Wonda has returned with Magic Hour, a seven-track EP that showcases her growth as both a vocalist and storyteller. Dropped in August, the project marks a significant milestone for the singer, who last released a complete body of work with her debut EP Fantasy Fair back in October 2021.

Magic Hour weaves together Afrobeats, Afro-R&B, and soul into a sonic tapestry that explores the complexities of love, desire, confidence, and self-discovery. The EP demonstrates Princess Wonda’s ability to blend vulnerability with swagger, creating tracks that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable. It’s a project that arrives with intention, building on her momentum from previous single releases and notable placements that have helped establish her presence in the global Afrobeats scene. Her track “Bust My Mind” previously landed on Amazon Prime Video’s Harlem, while “Bank Stops” found a home on HBO Max’s Young Love—proof that her sound translates across platforms and audiences.

Following the EP’s release, Princess Wonda took to Instagram to express gratitude to her supporters, writing: “I’m genuinely so grateful. Thank you to every single person who has listened, shared, added a song to a playlist, sent it to somebody or found a favourite on this project.” She added that “watching these songs find their people has been beautiful,” while promising that “we’re only getting started.” With Magic Hour now available across streaming platforms, Princess Wonda has hinted that more is on the way, suggesting that this EP is just the beginning of a new creative chapter.
