Tems Makes History as First Female Executive Music Producer for Major Film Soundtrack on “Children of Blood and Bone”

In a groundbreaking move that cements Afrobeats’ dominance in global entertainment, Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Tems has been tapped as Executive Music Producer and Curator for Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated fantasy epic, Children of Blood and Bone. The announcement, delivered by director Gina Prince-Bythewood at an exclusive trailer launch event hosted by Lena Waithe at Brooklyn Academy of Music, marks a historic milestone—Tems becomes the first woman ever to executive produce a movie soundtrack of this magnitude.

The collaboration runs deeper than typical soundtrack placements. Prince-Bythewood revealed that both Tems and Burna Boy served as her creative muses while penning the screenplay, their music providing the sonic blueprint for the film’s emotional landscape. Tems’ chart-topping single “Me & U” soundtracks the official teaser, while her manager Muyiwa Awoniyi has confirmed she’s crafted three brand-new original tracks exclusively for the project. Burna Boy joins the production as Executive Music Consultant, alongside a powerhouse lineup featuring Fireboy DML, BNXN (formerly Benson), and Ayra Starr—who pulls double duty by making her Hollywood acting debut in the film itself.

Adapted from Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, the soundtrack promises what Prince-Bythewood describes as an “epic, no-skips” experience that mirrors the story’s themes of magic, resistance, and ancestral power. With the film set to hit theaters January 15, 2027, this project represents more than just another sync placement—it’s a cultural statement positioning Afrobeats artists as essential architects of Hollywood’s sonic future.
