Tems Leads the Soundtrack for “Children of Blood and Bone” With Burna Boy, Ayra Starr & More

Tems Makes History as First Female Executive Music Producer for Major Hollywood Soundtrack

In a groundbreaking move that solidifies Afrobeats’ dominance in global entertainment, Tems has been tapped as Executive Music Producer and Curator for Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated fantasy epic “Children of Blood and Bone.” The announcement came during an exclusive trailer premiere at Brooklyn Academy of Music, with director Gina Prince-Bythewood revealing that Tems is the first woman to ever executive produce a movie soundtrack of this magnitude. Joining her is Burna Boy, who steps in as Executive Music Consultant, marking a powerful Nigerian takeover of one of Hollywood’s most culturally significant film projects.

The creative synergy between Prince-Bythewood and these Afrobeats titans runs deep. The acclaimed director admitted she was immersed in Tems and Burna Boy’s music while crafting the screenplay, making their involvement feel inevitable. That connection is immediately evident—Tems’ sultry hit “Me & U” soundtracks the official teaser, while her manager Muyiwa Awoniyi confirmed she’s created three brand-new original tracks exclusively for the film. The soundtrack’s star-studded lineup also features Fireboy DML, BNXN (Benson), and Ayra Starr, who’s pulling double duty by making her Hollywood acting debut in the movie itself. Prince-Bythewood described the collection as an “epic, no-skips” soundtrack that mirrors the novel’s exploration of magic, resistance, and liberation.

Based on Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel, “Children of Blood and Bone” arrives in theaters January 15, 2027, representing far more than just another film adaptation. With Afrobeats’ biggest names shaping its sonic landscape, the project stands as a defining moment where African music doesn’t just complement global cinema—it drives it. For Tems, this historic role cements her evolution from Grammy-winning artist to influential creative force reshaping how African sounds intersect with mainstream entertainment.
