Fifteen years deep into one of Afrobeats’ most decorated careers, Davido just reminded us why he remains untouchable. The Nigerian superstar has officially announced his sixth studio album, Oriadé, set to drop July 31, 2026—and if the regal announcement is any indication, OBO is about to deliver something monumental.
The rollout alone speaks volumes. Davido appeared in a cinematic teaser draped in an embroidered burgundy-and-black traditional outfit, positioned near a throne with a crown in view, declaring: “The kingdom expands. Chosen long before the throne.” It’s more than marketing—it’s a statement. The album title Oriadé translates to “the crowned head” in Yoruba, combining “ori” (destiny) and “adé” (crown). For Davido, born into the royal Adeleke family of Ede, Osun State, this isn’t just wordplay. Oriade is literally part of his own names, making this project a deeply personal meditation on heritage, identity, and the path he’s carved in music. “Over fifteen years ago, I decided to trust something I couldn’t fully explain. I just knew music was my destiny,” he told Billboard. “The biggest blessings often come from betting on yourself, even when the destination isn’t in sight yet.”
The lead single “I Know Who I Be,” produced by South African talents Jazzwrld and GL Ceejay, is already out and setting the tone. Oriadé follows last year’s 5ive, which climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard World Albums chart and spawned the Omah Lay collaboration “With You,” one of 2025’s most beloved Afrobeats records. That album also featured Chris Brown, Victoria Monét, Becky G, Shenseea, and YG Marley. This year alone, Davido made his Coachella debut—bringing out Adekunle Gold for a surprise moment—and landed on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 soundtrack alongside Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado. With Oriadé, he’s ready to expand the kingdom even further.
