Weekend Essentials: Fave, Victony, Timaya, Duncan Mighty & Mr Eazi Drop Heat

The weekend just got its perfect soundtrack. Nigerian music heavyweights have aligned to deliver a fresh batch of releases that span everything from soulful R&B to classic dancehall vibes, and the timing couldn’t be better.

Leading the charge is Fave with her boldest project to date. The rising star’s third EP, RnBling, breaks new ground as her first collaborative effort, featuring six tracks with stellar guest appearances from Chike on “Miss You” and Yemi Alade on “Paparazzi.” Following 2022’s Riddim 5 and last year’s Dutty Love, this latest offering showcases thoughtful production work from Dunnie, Deeyasso, and Damie. The EP flows seamlessly, blending Fave’s signature introspective tone with carefully curated collaborations that elevate her sound without overshadowing her artistic vision.

Victony continues his impressive run with “Slick,” a track that lives up to its name. The Encore Recordings release finds him in a more relaxed groove, with producers Ozedikus and Dera The Boy crafting atmospheric production that lets Victony’s vocals take center stage. It’s understated excellence—warm harmonies, subtle synths, and a performance that proves he knows exactly when to pull back and let the music breathe. Meanwhile, Niger Delta icons Timaya and Duncan Mighty have joined forces on “Kontrol,” their first official collaboration that fuses Afrobeats, Afro-dancehall, and highlife into something that feels both familiar and fresh. Produced by Spotless, the track marks Timaya’s first release of 2026 and delivers the kind of chemistry you’d expect from two artists who share roots and understand the pulse of the dancefloor.

Closing out the lineup is Mr Eazi‘s genre-bending adventure “Lambo,” featuring Jamaican legend Vybz Kartel. Working alongside Dre Skull, the emPawa Africa boss dives headfirst into authentic dancehall territory, creating a cross-cultural moment that showcases his willingness to explore beyond Afrobeats conventions. The collaboration highlights two artists from different worlds finding common ground, resulting in a track that’s built for speakers and soundsystems alike.

Whether you’re in the mood for introspective vibes, smooth Afrobeats grooves, or full-blown dancehall energy, this weekend’s releases have you covered from every angle.
